Colts Success in Wisden!

Wisden Last year's great U11 performance against Newbury is recorded in the 2010 Wisden Cricketers' Almanack on page 1581:

READING POST - June 23

Newbury Under-11s had a total of 50 in their match against Mortimer West End – but none of their batsmen scored a run. Nine were bowled for ducks, and the tenth was run out. Their runs came from six no-balls and 19 wides, which all counted double under age group rules. West End won by ten wickets.

Outdoor Colts Training

Outdoor training starts at the ground in Church Road on Thursday, April 29th.

6.00 - 7.00 U9s U11s
7.00 - 8.00 U13s U15s

The sessions are open to all abilities, so it’s really not a problem if your children are just starting to get a taste for cricket and just want to try it out. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the session. The cost of each session is just £1 per colt.

Coaches will insist that appropriate protective equipment will be used - see Helmet Guidance. The club has all equipment available for colts to use as necessary. In addition, we will apply the ECB Directives on Fast Bowling to manage the development of our cricketers in the nets. Where fielding practice takes place with a hard ball, we will enforce the ECB's Fielding Regulations.

We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions or require any additional information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch either by e-mail (colts@mwecc.co.uk) or phone on 07971 780214

Colts Coaches

The club currently has three ECB qualified coaches, with a further three due to complete their 'Level 2' qualification before the summer starts.

As well as being skilled in the delivery of quality cricket coaching, our coaches have signed up to a coaches Code of Conduct which outlines coach responsibilities, the type of relationship that they set up with players, and importantly, the rights of those players.

Further information can be found in the Coaches Code of Conduct document.
